About EV Cost Per Mile
Independent, ad-light EV charging-cost data built on public datasets — so anyone weighing an electric car can see exactly what it costs to drive one in their ZIP code.
Our mission
EV cost information online is fragmented, often outdated, and biased toward whichever dealer, utility, or charging network published it. EV Cost Per Mile exists to give drivers a single, neutral place to answer one question: "What will this EV actually cost me per mile, per month, per year — in my home, on my utility plan, on my road trip?"
We charge nothing, require no signup, and don't sell leads to dealers. The site is supported by a small Buy Me a Coffee link and (eventually) lightweight display ads — never sponsored model recommendations.
Who runs this site
EV Cost Per Mile is built and maintained by Peter Tran, an independent developer and EV owner based in the United States. Peter handles the data pipelines, writes the guides, and personally responds to corrections and reader questions.

Where our data comes from
- EPA fueleconomy.gov — vehicle efficiency (mi/kWh, MPGe) and EPA range
- U.S. EIA — residential electricity rates and weekly gasoline prices by region
- OpenEI Utility Rate Database — residential and time-of-use tariffs by utility
- NHTSA — open recall data shown on per-vehicle pages
- Manufacturer spec sheets — battery capacity, DC fast-charge curves, onboard charger limits
- Mapbox Directions — real driving routes for the road trip planner
