How we calculate
Home charging cost uses US-average residential electricity at $0.17/kWh (EIA Electric Power Monthly) with a 10% AC charging loss applied. Supercharger pricing uses a composite of Tesla's published station pricing and a regional multiplier (0.90–1.35×) derived from state-level electricity and demand-charge variance.
Vehicle efficiency and range come from EPA fueleconomy.gov. Gas comparisons use AAA national average pricing. See our full methodology page for sources and update frequency.
