Editorial Policy
How we verify what we publish, fix mistakes, and stay independent.
Independence
EV Cost Per Mile is owned and operated by Peter Tran. We do not accept paid placement in rankings, sponsored "best EV" lists, or affiliate fees that influence which vehicle we recommend. The site is funded by a Buy Me a Coffee link and (planned) lightweight display ads — clearly labeled and segregated from editorial content.
Accuracy & sourcing
Every number is sourced from a named, public dataset — EPA fueleconomy.gov, EIA, OpenEI URDB, NHTSA, Mapbox, or manufacturer spec sheets. See the full methodology for the formulas. Anything we can't verify against a primary source doesn't get published.
Corrections
If we publish a number that's wrong, we want to know. Email sengtran007@gmail.com with the page URL and the source for the correct value. We aim to fix verified errors within 2 business days and note the change on the affected page when it materially alters a result.
Updates
Data-driven pages show a "last updated" timestamp that reflects the most recent data sync. Guides are reviewed at least annually, and when a major model release, tax-credit change, or utility-rate restructure makes a guide outdated.
AI use
Editorial content is written and reviewed by a human (Peter Tran). We use generative AI for code, formatting, and copy-editing assistance, but every published claim is verified against the primary source by a human before it ships.
Disclosure
When a guide mentions a product (e.g. a home charger), the recommendation reflects publicly verifiable specs and price — not a paid relationship. If that ever changes, we'll disclose it inline on the page in question.
